Voter fraud in Maine?

by Michael Billy on February 15, 2012

Ben Swann runs down the allegations of voter fraud in Maine. Two counties won’t have their votes counted and several vote counts seem to be missing or wrong. Watch the video. It’s astonishing.

Coming to America…

by Michael Billy on January 28, 2012

… is Westvleteren 12. As though I needed another reason to look forward to spring.

For those that don’t know, Westvlteren 12 is widely considered to be one of the best (if not the best) beers ever created. It’s not going to be cheap though. Probably $50-$100 for a 6-pack with two glasses.

Then again, if you wanted the beer in previous years you would have to travel to Belgium and buy it directly off of the notoriously reclusive Trappist monks who only brew it once a year.

Or you could buy it on the grey market from someone who managed to get some for, of course, exorbitant costs. Then again, the supply is extremely limited and the demand is high, so I can see why people resell it for huge profits.

The monks need some money to refurbish their monastery, so they made a one time deal with a distributor to export the brews to other countries. It looks like the supply will be limited to about 8,000 of the gift packs.

I look forward to snagging one if Pittsburgh gets a decent amount of them.

Bad news for ‘Big Beer’ good news for craft brewers

January 25, 2012

Amid declining beer sales in the United States, financial analysts at UBS have downgraded Molson Coors from a “Buy” rating to “Neutral.” Molson Coors took a pretty hard hit in the third-quarter having a 23% decline in profit. Unemployment among their core customers is one factor for the decrease in sales and, thus, the downgrade, [...]

CDC thinks I’m a binge drinker

January 23, 2012

Considering all the beer festivals and other related events that I’ve been to I wouldn’t be totally inclined to disagree. However, the question the CDC asked on their survey kind of defines a large portion of Americans as binge drinkers. Basically anyone who drinks four or five servings of alcohol on one “occasion” is a [...]

I weep for Mississippi

January 22, 2012

When I open my beer cabinet (yes, I have a cabinet dedicated to beer, don’t judge) I see bottles of Dogfish Head 90 Minute, Founders CBS, Founders Breakfast Stout, Dogfish Head Palo Santo Maron, and Dogfish Head Forte. There are others in there, of course, but I chose to name these ones because they all [...]

South Carolina Primary results

January 21, 2012

Surprisingly (if you looked at the poll numbers a week ago) or unsurprisingly (if you looked yesterday) Newt Gingrich handily won the South Carolina primary. Mitt Romney came in second, followed by Santorum and Paul. I’d also like to take this opportunity to point out that I called the election (on Twitter) well ahead of [...]
